2010 Department Recognition

1st Quarter - 3N Med/Surg

We received letters and ICARE cards from patients  about the outstanding care they received from the staff of our Med/Surg Unit. A card was received signed by members of a patient’s family thanking the staff for the care and comfort provided to their father.  Another patient commented that the staff of our Med/Surg Unit helped them manage their fear about their stay in the hospital and turned an anticipated negative experience into as positive of an experience as possible. Congratulations to the staff of  3 North, our Med/Surg Unit!

2nd Quarter - Stepdown Unit

We received letters and thank you cards from patients about the outstanding care they received from the staff of our Stepdown Unit. A card was received signed by members of a patient’s family thanking the staff for the care and comfort provided to their sister.  Another family commented that the staff of our Stepdown Unit went above and beyond to care for their mother as well as the family members. Congratulations to the staff of Stepdown, our Acute Healthcare Unit!

3rd Quarter - Food Service

Throughout the third quarter we have received many ICARE cards from patients and family commenting on the excellent service they received from our Food Service staff during a stay at Gulf Coast Medical Center. From having a “Can Do” and friendly attitude to making sure each patient had what they wanted to eat; the staff that interacts with our patients is making a big difference.

But we also received ICARE cards from employees who were impressed with the Food Service workers they meet every day in the cafeteria. Comments on the friendliness of the staff were received. And how each Food Service employee tried to make sure everyone received excellent service.

With a commitment to great customer service by the entire Food Service Team, your department is making a difference.

4th Quarter - Women’s Center

Each month the employees of our Women’s Center receive individual ICARE cards from grateful patients who express their delight and gratitude for the care they and their families received. In the fourth quarter of 2010, we received cards from new mothers, new fathers and a grandfather raving about the care provided by the entire Women’s Center staff.

One new mommy wrote the following: “This was the best experience I’ve had with a hospital stay. Everyone was very kind and helpful…This is one of the best hospitals I’ve ever visited. I give it a 10.”

A new daddy wrote: “This was the best experience my wife and I have ever had in a hospital. Every staff member was so nice and very helpful.”
