6th Annual Princess Ball
August 16, 2011
Panama City, FL – The Gulf Coast Medical Center Princess Ball, which has grown to become one of Bay County’s most anticipated father/daughter events, returns for its sixth year. The event will be held Saturday, August 27 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the National Guard Armory. The dance is for girls up to age 12 and their dads.
Hospital Marketing Director Rod Whiting says the ball started out as an idea to encourage dads to spend more quality time with their daughters. “It’s hard to say who enjoys the event more – the girls or their dads. What we do know is that attendance at the event continues to grow; we had nearly 400 last year.”
This year’s ball returns to the National Guard Armory, which is located at 3121 Lisenby Avenue near the old Panama City Airport.
In addition to dads and daughters dancing together and the young princesses in their outfits, the event is also a fundraiser for Girls Inc. of Bay County. “The event is free,” says Whiting, “but a donation is suggested to help support the mission of Girls Inc.” Last year, nearly $5,000 was raised at the event.
